Beatle mania is still alive and well in Liverpool. Take a trip to the world famous Cavern Club, where the Beatles performed around 300 gigs. All right, so the original Cavern Club was carelessly pulled down but this doesnt seem to deter visitors in the slightest. There are also a whole host of Beatles city tours available, including the Magical Mystery Tour bus that takes you to many of the place that inspired the Beatles lyrics, such as the real Penny Lane. Whilst The Beatles Story exhibition at Albert Docks is also well worth a look for any Beatles fan.
Liverpools dock area is an essential area of the city for every visitor to see. The area is dominated by a series of five storey 19th century warehouses that have now be modernised to give them a new lease of life in the form of various museums, coffee bars, restaurants and pubs, making it one of the liveliest areas of the city. When it comes to art galleries Liverpool boasts an excellent choice, but the Tate Liverpool is particularly impressive.
Tate Liverpool is home to the largest collection of contemporary artwork outside of London and the variety and sheer scale of the place is certain to appeal. Whilst for those more into the classical style of art a trip to the Walker Art Gallery with its Rubens and Rembrandts will be far more to your liking.
During your stay be sure to checkout whether any races are on at Aintree, one of the countrys premier racecourses and home to the Martell Grand National. A day at the races makes for a thoroughly enjoyable day out especially if you e feeling lucky and fancy placing the odd bet or two.
Even when races aren happening theres always the Grand National Experience Tour you can take which gives you a great insight into the history and workings of this great race ground. For a day out thats certain to be a hit with the whole family, a trip to Croxteth Hall and Country Park should definitely be on your agenda. Here you can tour this historic house with all its many treasures before taking to the delightful Victorian Walled Garden. Theres also a Victorian farmyard thats home to some very breeds and acres of woodland to stroll through at your leisure.
